SAM Meets Oregon Greywater

Good news coming out of Oregon state government about greywater.

Gabrielle Schiffer, the Green Building Services Coordinator, Oregon Building Codes Division and one of the members of the Graywater Advisory Committee circulated the following notice:

"Thought some of you might be interested to know that the Oregon State Plumbing Board revised the statewide alternate method (SAM) for commercial and industrial wastewater conservation systems (aka gray water reuse system) for flushing toilets and urinals (OPSC 08-4) at their meeting on June 17, 2010.

The board revised the existing SAM by removing language that prohibited the use of gray water reuse systems for flushing toilets in “apartments or commercial buildings used for childcare facilities and schools.”

Here’s a link to the revised SAM.

It's beginning to sound like greywater reuse is finally moving forward as baby steps in Oregon. Thanks for sharing Gabrielle
